Entering an image competition can be an exciting and challenging experience for photographers. I don't enter every year but when I do it can be very rewarding to have images accepted and above into the show. 

Why I enter- Entering an image competition  offers several benefits for photographers, recognition, exposure, feedback, critique, and portfolio building. 

Recognition and Exposure: Entering a photography competition can help you gain recognition and exposure for your work. The Professional Photographers of Canada provides us with media releases already prepared so they can be submitted to the media to see if they would write a story to recognize our work. 

Feedback and Critique: The annual image competitions has experienced judges who offer valuable feedback and critique images. This feedback can helps me improve my skills and identify areas where I can grow as a photographer.

Portfolio Building: Winning or being selected as a finalist in a photography competition can enhances my portfolio and helps me stand out among other photographers. 

Challenge and Growth: Entering a photography competition can be challenging and it pushes me to create my best work and improve my skills. The competition can motivate me to step outside your comfort zone, there are times I enter and experiment with new techniques or subject matter.

Overall, entering an image competition can be a rewarding and valuable experience for photographers, offering opportunities for recognition, feedback, growth, and potential rewards.
